July/August 2000

Greetings again to all of our supporters and families of the Columbine community and beyond. Many great things have been happening at LFC since our last newsletter.

Most importantly, LFC has finally had the opportunity to begin the process of giving back to the Columbine community. Although we are still in the fundraising mode, we were presented with the chance to help out in several areas with The Gathering, this first time event of its kind ever. With the kind help of Pegasus Travel in Denver, we were able to cover the costs for the Columbine families' flights to this wonderful event. I invite you to read our lead story and learn more about the positive effect it had on everyone who attended and how a new annual tradition may have been forged.

Our CDs continue to sell around the country thanks to the Musicland Corporation which has played an important role with our project. We thank them very much for their generosity and continued support. Locally, we have added a couple of more stores who jumped at the opportunity to sell our benefit CD and are doing well with sales. Although the Denver market is somewhat saturated from Columbine related products at present, CD sales are still moving along with some stores doing better than others. We haven't received the majority of our receivables yet from several of our store chains. We look forward to the results on national and local sales over the next several weeks.

Another area which has kept us on the edge of our seats is the awaited release of Rachel Lampa's CD with Word Entertainment titled "I Live For You" which made its debut on August 1st and her title cut remains at the top of the charts. All of the songs are beautifully written by some of the best Christian songwriters around and performed by this extraordinary young lady we believe will go on to do some wonderful things in the music world. We highly recommend you pick up a copy of her awesome CD and let it speak to your heart and touch your soul.

We are also happy to announce that we have entered "Lullaby for Columbine, Love Endures" into the 43rd Grammy Awards for 2001. While the music world is very competitive and that there will be many outstanding entrants into next year's Grammy Awards, we feel confident that we have meaningful merit to participate in it. One of the qualifying areas is in engineering where we have such talented individuals as Bruce C. Marshall and Robert Berglund who did an awesome job with the studio and on-location recordings for some of the original songs on our CD. Considering that our gifted mastering engineer, David Glasser has also already taken home four of the golden statuettes and has forty-five nominations to his name, gives us a little faith in at least a possible nomination. As my dad always use to say, "You have to aim high if you want to get anywhere!" Our fingers are crossed and our hands are folded.

As always, thank you for your support for the many victims who have years of rehabilitation and related expenses to incur which, after they turn twenty-one, their insurance will no longer cover. This is the primary reason why we did this CD and we ask for your prayers that we are able meet our goal of raising all or part of the five-million dollars that has been projected these brave young people will need. Please make sure every friend you have across the country owns a copy!

Thanks, God bless, and enjoy this special issue of LFCNews on The Gathering.
